Paralympic Committee Honors Randy Snow
Paralympic and Olympic medalist, ten-time U.S. Open Wheelchair Tennis champion posthumously receives prestigious Paralympic Order
Late wheelchair tennis legend Randy Snow was among four people to receive the highest honor available to individuals involved in the Paralympic movement.
Snow was honored with the Paralympic Order by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) during the Paralympic Awards Gala last December in Beijing.

Late wheelchair tennis legend and Team USA basketball standout Randy Snow has been honored with the prestigious Paralympic Order.
Also among the honorees were Matthias Berg, seven-time Paralympian and member of the German National Paralympic Committee (NPC); Luca Pancalli, president of NPC Italy; and Nabil Salem, former president of NPC Egypt and the African Paralympic Committee.
All the recipients made important contributions to the Paralympic Movement and have illustrated the Paralympic ideals in the sporting world or via their outstanding services to the cause of the movement.
Snow provided an immense contribution to wheelchair tennis as a coach and player ambassador on numerous projects for the International Tennis Federation (ITF). He was a Paralympic and Olympic medalist and ten-time U.S. Open Wheelchair Tennis champion.
Snow passed away November 19, 2009, while in El Salvador conducting ITF wheelchair tennis clinics and workshops.
Pancalli, a winner of eight gold, six silver, and one bronze medal in swimming at the Paralympic Games, headed the formation of the Italian Paralympic Committee in 2003.
Berg, meanwhile, has devoted his entire life to the Paralympic movement as a dual-sport athlete in alpine skiing and athletics and then as an active member of NPC Germany and the IPC. In the two sports combined, he won 11 gold and 17 overall medals between the World Championships and Paralympic Games.
Salem has contributed to the last nine Paralympic Games in various roles, including positions as IPC vice president, IPC governing board member, and president of NPC Egypt. He was initially one of the IPC’s founding members.
