The popularity of wheelchair tennis is growing and possibly nowhere faster than in the world's developing countries. See how people in remote areas of the globe are getting a taste of this sport.


Regardless of obstacles—of which there were many—the people of Tanzania yearned to play wheelchair tennis.
In "54 Countries—And Counting," author Mark Bullock describes his travels around the globe to promote wheelchair tennis. Lost luggage and less than (much less than) five-star living accommodations are far outweighed by the hospitality and enthusiasm of the people he meets.

In "Teaching the Expert" author Dan James says that coaching wheelchair tennis never crossed his mind, but he is so thankful it crossed his path. Regarding a 2006 trip to Tanzania, he describes a country where accessibility does not exist. He expresses how fortunate he was to bring some semblance of knowledge to the people in fostering their ability to play wheelchair tennis.
